BRANDON MAN KILLED – Mr Henry Wharf, Broomhill, Weeting, has received the sorrowful news that his only son, Private Charles Wharf, was killed in action on September 28th. He had been in the Army more than three years and had previously had a narrow escape of loosing his life. On one occasion he was almost buried in a trench in France, one leg and his back being injured. He leaves a widow and one daughter. He is a native of Brandon, where he lived many years. He was in the Royal Berkshire Regiment.
